Storing Beans, I Tried All Methods Yet Nothing Works, Any Suggestions?

For Storing Beans, I Tried All Methods Yet Nothing Works, Any Suggestions? Good day Eya and all WC Visitors. Ill be glad to get better suggestions on this issue.

My family doesn’t eat much beans, but to balance their diet I cook it at least once every week. We used to buy a quarter bag of beans (7.5kg) but due to weevil attack and to curtail waste, I resorted to buying just a custard bucket.

Recently, I’ve

increased the bean menu to twice a week and the bucket size doesn’t last much any longer. I’m contemplating increasing the quantity I buy, but I fear weevil attack.

I don’t know how else to prevent or minimize weevil attack. I’ve tried putting my beans in an airtight container like a cooler, Jerry can (you know the 25 litres) etc. with enough dry pepper. None of these methods have given me the result I desire.

Please any suggestions?

Yes poster. What works for me is keeping the beans in a freezer. That way, my beans never gets bad and insects can’t affect what is stored in a freezer. That’s what we do in my family and the beans remains fresh for as long as it’ s there. Just make sure the freezer is always cold and frozen with constant power supply.

People also talk about adding dried chilly pepper to beans to keep insects from the legumes.  In all these, for me the best method of storing beans is keeping your beans in the freezer with regular electricity.

  3. Buy dry paper and mix it with the beans and jst keep in airtight container. It can stay more than two mouths without weevils infecting it. But u most first pick the beans bfor storing. My grandmum thought me and it has worked for me.

  6. Pour them into a jerry can and pour as many pepper as you can into it. When ever you want to cook the beans all you need do is select the pepper out and pour them back into the jerry can. My colleague told me a few days back. This was the method they used throughout her childhood days.

You can pick d beans and store inside freezer; jst make sure u wrap inside very thick nylon lyk 3 @a time to prevent water from enterg; d logic here is d very low temperature will prevent weevil from breeding hence no reproductn tks place in ds kind of environment; for more dn 1yr now, iv bn using ds method and trust me it works very well; jst make sure dr's no single hole on any of d nylon u r wrapping wt; evn whn dr is no light, don't bother ursef jst d vry low temp is all u need; except ur beans av bn infested b4 u put it in d freezer. 13. The freezer method is the only answer for the consumers but in my case I'm a beans dealer, a business I just started and I'm seeking for the best way to preserve the beans from this evil weevils cos I rebag and seal for supermarkets after picking. Though I've not experienced any weevil attack but I love to prevent rather than curing. So please any suggestions?
