COOKING DIRECTION FOR Ofe Ugu (Ugu soup) by Gee Emmy

  • Boil your goat meat, shaki and beef with seasoning and yellow pepper.

Add enough water to make your soup. Add 2 serving spoons of palm oil, ogiri, stockfish and crayfish leave to boil.

Dissolve Achi in cold water and add. This is to avoid lumps. It will thicken as it boils.

Add smoked fish, achara and periwinkle, taste for salt.

Lastly add your uziza and then add ugu, leave to boil for 2minutes.

Serve with Akpu or wheat or semo or garri.

    Enjoy!

Ofe Ugu Soup is ready
Enjoy!

  1. Thanks Nwanyi Umuahia. As a matter of fact, I cooked this soup yesterday but didn't know it has a name. Its fast to make especially during the weekend. The name i usually called mine is 'Cherewere Veggy soup'. Whenever we need quick soup for Eba during the week, this is one of the soup apart from okro that I make, although, i use 'ofor' as thickener.

  3. What exactly went bad about it? Use very little oil. Like very little. You can use just one spoonful. That's how I do mine and it comes out great. Then, fry at low heat so that you can control it and make sure all sides are fried to your taste and the insides are fried too. If you want it thick, desist from adding much water. I like mine to be really thick. So I make the layers when I turn it into the pan to be like thrice the mixture's single layer. Then what else?

  4. Nice one! I'm more familiar with ofor, can I use only ofor or achi has a special taste it gives?

  5. I love dis soup, buh my hubby hates it. Said it's tiring to eat after the first day.and it's quite economical. Lol. @ pancake maker- if it scatterd, u probably usd toomuch baking powder, or toomuch water to mix it or insufficient eggs or ur frying pan is d problem… Try again using 1 cup of flour, 1 egg, a pinch of baking powder and water to make it runny. And fry it d wauy u'd fry eggs ( wiv little oil). Tokoni.
