How to make ofe ugu
This is a soup made by the Umungbokwo’s in Ohuhu Isingwu LGA of Umuahia-Abia state where I hail from. Feel free to post the method you know. Thanks and enjoy.
Meanwhile Kudos to everyone who posted cooking skills on this blog, it’s not easy. My husband kept wondering why I was taking
snapshots in the kitchen, I told him he won’t understand.
INGREDIENTS
Achi (a kind of thickener)
Goat meat
Achara (optional)
Shaki
Smoked fish
Stock fish
Periwinkle (Nsam in igbo)

COOKING DIRECTION FOR Ofe Ugu (Ugu soup) by Gee Emmy
Boil your goat meat, shaki and beef with seasoning and yellow pepper.
Add enough water to make your soup. Add 2 serving spoons of palm oil, ogiri, stockfish and crayfish leave to boil.
Dissolve Achi in cold water and add. This is to avoid lumps. It will thicken as it boils.
Add smoked fish, achara and periwinkle, taste for salt.
Lastly add your uziza and then add ugu, leave to boil for 2minutes.
Serve with Akpu or wheat or semo or garri.
Enjoy!
Ofe Ugu Soup is ready

Mix half part achi and half offor, trust me you will never use any other thickner again.
this looks so yummy and good. i'm salivating already.
Looking yummylicious and sounds straight forward. Can it be served with rice or yam?
Onye Umuahia ibe m, good job!
Thanks Nwanyi Umuahia. As a matter of fact, I cooked this soup yesterday but didn't know it has a name. Its fast to make especially during the weekend. The name i usually called mine is 'Cherewere Veggy soup'. Whenever we need quick soup for Eba during the week, this is one of the soup apart from okro that I make, although, i use 'ofor' as thickener.
Looks great! And the recipe is quite staightforward
Nice! Slow news day Eya? It's not a holiday…lol

Off Topic!!!!WC,I made pancakes on saturday and it turned out terrible while I was frying it..foLlowed all d procedures well….was just so sad.,.. Pls help a siser.whr did I go wrong????
Nice one gee eMmy! Taking pics while cooking isn't easy ooo, so I don't take pics wen am hungry at all.
What exactly went bad about it? Use very little oil. Like very little. You can use just one spoonful. That's how I do mine and it comes out great. Then, fry at low heat so that you can control it and make sure all sides are fried to your taste and the insides are fried too. If you want it thick, desist from adding much water. I like mine to be really thick. So I make the layers when I turn it into the pan to be like thrice the mixture's single layer. Then what else?
Never heard or seen any like this before!
Looks good,
Ok… Will try using achi and ofor next time. Thanks
Thanks Bona
Nice one! I'm more familiar with ofor, can I use only ofor or achi has a special taste it gives?
Kwezuonu oohhh
Cherewere as in sharp sharp lol… Nice one. Yea it comes in handy. Will definitely try the ofor version next time.
My grandma md sth similar she called ofe ocha onu ugu n I loved it. Thanks for the reminder.
Nice, nice…Is this the same as ofe onugbu?
Please which Ogiri do you use? The black one or Ogiri Igbo?
I love dis soup, buh my hubby hates it. Said it's tiring to eat after the first day.and it's quite economical. Lol. @ pancake maker- if it scatterd, u probably usd toomuch baking powder, or toomuch water to mix it or insufficient eggs or ur frying pan is d problem… Try again using 1 cup of flour, 1 egg, a pinch of baking powder and water to make it runny. And fry it d wauy u'd fry eggs ( wiv little oil). Tokoni.
Gee Emmy nice one! Please which ogiri did you use? Is Okpei or Ogiri Igbo?
Thanks for sharing a good secret to good home-keeping!
