Hospitals that administer epidurals pain reliever to pregnant women in labour
Hello Aunty Eya, my name is …………, this is my number……….., please help me ask your your blog readers where one can give birth with epidurals in Nigeria. I live in Lagos and won’t want to go through the labour pains I suffered while giving birth to my two kids.
I am pregnant and in my second trimester. This is my third and I won’t mind travelling to any part of Nigeria where I can have a painless delivery.
My sons were delivered in Ibadan and there was no epidurals anywhere. I cried and even shitted before babies came out, this time if I can avoid it why not.
If you can help me, please advice and also post let me know if there are hospitals in Nigeria that take painless delivery or give pain relievers to women in labour. Labor pain is not something I pray to experience again.
Thank you for this
platform and I want to use this medium to thank you for bringing sanity back to our wives connection blog comments.
This is how it used to be. Continue to delete insults and insane comments and please do not be tempted to stop comment moderation because your blog is different from the rest. It is a family blog where we bring our personal issues.
I wanted to send this mail some three months back but was scared of insultive comments. Gating is what has encouraged me to send this in cos I can’t stand insults. I need names of Nigerian hospitals that administer epidurals to pregnant women in labour. I live in Abuja but hospital that administer epidurals I don’t know any.
Sorry about my long mail. Please post it for me so I can go do Antenatal registration if there is any such hosp.
Readers pls help a sister.

When I see women give birth while discussing with people and smiling, I just wonder which day that will get to us in Nigeria.
If there is any, am also interested.
I dont think there is any such hospital in Nigeria. #oyibotinz
Choi Aunty Eya, once schools are on holiday and your kids are with you, you don't even have our time again. You post once a day and just go till the next day na wao. Ysterday I refresh tire in the evening while you were sleeping and enjoying your children. Just try dey post frequently for us the addicted readers.
That thing must be very expensive. Even if they bring it to Nigeria, can we pay? They'll maken us pay through our noses #sigh
To add to what Poster said. Aunty Eya am also happy about the sanity you brought back. Don't worry when you continue deleting their insults they'll have no choice than to conform to standard.
Yesterday I felt awkward like people are no longer reading you blog because of comment moderation but then I logged in with my Ipad to check your pageviews and was pleasantly surprised.and saw that your pageviews on the blog are still running like mad. I don't know why but I can only view the blog pageviews when I read with my ipad. my phone doesn't show that.
I counted new hits every five seconds and the numbers were just increasing. That encouraged me a lot, if not I was about to beg you to go back to free comments. Since thousands still read daily, there is nothing to worry about. There or four sane comments with valuable advice are better than a hundred insultive hate comments IMO. #Welldonesister

I mean delivery cost alone excluding epidural o.
Ehn, magodo specialist gives epidural and delivery cost is 200k(normal delivery) and if its cs maybe 400k(dunno sha, didn't ask.) But are y'all sure dis epidural has no side effects? I wonder how one will be forced to push when u aint feeln pains. #justThinking#
Fed staff hospital too abuja. And its affordable
It's relatively safe if administered properly. You don't loose consciousness. It just numbs your pain receptors so you don't feel the pain or if any it will be very small pain. BUT! Once the medicine wears off, your whole body will feel the pain of afterbirth like you were armless in a boxing ring with 12 world champions.
go to herb sellers and ask 4 d black soap 4 ur tummy @ nine mths, dat is local epidural
Check lagoon hospital both in ikj, apapa nd island.
The only side effect epidurals have is if you move or shake a even a tiny bit while its been administered then the recipient becomes paralysed for life o,cos they normally administer it at the spinal cord area. So one needs to hold stiff while the doctor or nurse administer it for that split second. All this they would tell you at the hospital though.
@Babino, why you put fear in me naaa???? ahn ahn. Anyway I won't shake o.
Please how is the black soap used and what are the side effects?
Is it same as the dudu osun we all know? or a different kind of black soap?
@Anon 2:36AM, Once the medicine wears off, your whole body will feel the pain of afterbirth like you were armless in a boxing ring with 12 world champions.
This shaking could be as a result of overdose or does it happen to everywoman administered?
Hello women of wc, dis is goin to be lengthy but Pls bear with me, let's educate ourselves – epidural is good, it makes labour painless, you only feel the pressure of contraction but the side effect is more than what bambino has said, Dere are advantages and disadvantages of using epidural
Having epidural will render u less mobile, u can't walk around,it might give some women headache during and after birth, it can also make labour longer, blood pressure may fall suddenly, Dere is d likelihood of having assisted delivery(using forceps, ventouse or caesarean) den my last point and most importantly, it can cause severe back ache months after delivery. Let's ask ourselves do we trust health practitioners in Nigeria especially govt hospitals to administer it properly, as d injection shuld be given close to d spinal cord, baby's heart beat shuld also be monitored as well as mother's blood pressure. What happens if u have back pain you can't cope with? Is there provision for therapy later on? I know of cases of people in the UK that had severe back pain after delivery via using epidural. there is nothing that is totally good, epidural has its side effect as well.
=))º°˚˚˚°ºнaĦaнaº°˚˚˚°º=)) yes oooo pls dnt shake oooo well ve not hrd of any woman shaking during epidurals sha,the way they would give you the instructions self fear no go gree u shake for that split seconds =))º°˚˚˚°ºнaĦaнaº°˚˚˚°º=)) so never mind dear.
Diff hospital in aso drive maitama abuja, they administer epidural very well.
Ok
Epidural has its disadvantage and I'm a witness to it. My sister inlaw gave birth to her second child via epidural in UK. When she went to have her third child via epidural in the same hospital, it resulted into some complications. They doctors tried to assist her with a forcep method but it failed somehow and her womb was injured. Though she and the baby are ok now but she went through a lot. She still feel back ache and headache till date. And she was advised in the hospital to wait for another 10 year if she ever plan to have another baby.
Now that was UK, tell if it were to be in Nigeria what do u think would have happen.
I am a mother of one and I agree its the most painful experience. We have to think.
I don't understand your question. What shaking are you talking about? I mean you will feel physically battered once the epidural wears off. Nothing you shouldn't be able to handle though.
Dear poster, based on wat anon 6:00pm said,I think u should ponder on it very well.of wat use is it 4 u 2 shy away pain frm normal delivery dat will last 4 few hours or minutes dependin on d individual nd den do epidural wt no pain durin delivery only 4 d PAIN 2 resurface in double or triple folds after delivery.I can understand if d epidural is Painless during nd after delivery nd has no SIDE EFFECTS;bt if its d other way round,I think u shld stick 2 d old fashion way:normal delivery or CS even.I'm a mother of 4 nd I gav birth d normal way .note dat evry pregg, labour, delivery nd child is different in its own way.PLS try work on ur FEARS nd u never can tell, this labour nd delivery might b diff frm d other 2.I wish u best of luck in ur delivery.may God b wt u nd strenghten u.Mylilpiece
LNC, Biko where in Festac?
Since u stay in lagos, go to st Nicolas hospital. That's what made my delivery painless.
I had my last baby July last year in University of Port-Harcourt Teaching Hospital. I also had an epidural administered. The labour was painless and the epidural even accelerated the process. Made my labour so short, I almost regretted having it. The Anaesthesiologist administering it there is US trained and is very good at what he does. He sensitised us during ANC, so lots of women were comfortable with it. There, they have rules though. Your labour has to progress an dyour cervix must dilate up to 4cm before the epidural is administered. It is also administered by the help of an automatic machine that monitors your heart rate, blood pressure, fetal heart rate. Etc. Now this machine is hooked to a UPS that can work straight 12 hours on its own ebven in the absence of light. So even if NEPA and GEN disappoints, you won't be left hanging. The epidural was also very affordable. The cost being 15,000 naira only. So the epidural plus normal delivery cost us less than 45000 naira. I have not had any back pain or side effects since then. The after birth pains were also very bearable. If there is a wahala I had with it, it is that the time of labour after the epidural was administered became so short that I felt I didn't get a run for my money. Epidurals are also avaible in Calabar(UCTH) and it is affordable.

Some people just love putting themselves through he'll becof one believe that labor pain is natural and should be felt. Why put yourself through excruciating pains when science have helped in easing the pains. The poster told you what she went through initially and asked for a link and you think the best you can offer is to tell her to face her fears? Hmmm. Sorry for the one whose sister had complications during epidural, even delivery with pain meds comes with its own complications.
