Nigerian Emergency Stew With Corned Beef, Fish And Chicken. This emergency stew is thick again dedicated to our thick stew lovers, me I still like mine watery.
This stew came up at a time when I didn’t have my preserved tomatoes at home, I had to cook with canned ingredients from my emergency kitchen.
The Reason I call it emergency stew. It turned out better and tastier than most tomato stews I had eaten and everyone said
they liked it. I was in such a hurry I didn’t remember to take pics from the beginning but will explain.

Emergency tomato stew simmers and cooks |
This emergency quick cook stew can be served with yam, potatoes, plantain, bread, pasta or rice.
Having an emergency cupboard or corner helps in the kitchen just like a First Aid box. We must not always cook from that emergency corner.
It is for emergency purposes so go get your fresh items for daily meals *wink*

Anon 2;49 can anyone cook stew without oil? Abegi carry bad belle go sidon
Those bad cooks who always complain of oil in stew, what do you like to see in stew? Water?
sardines and corned beef in the same pot of stew?? I'll pass, thanks!
I think It'll def taste nice cause corned beef adds flavoring to the dullest of soups/food. However, it seems too much for me! I hv never undertood both fish and meat/chicken in one stew. Not soup oh, stew. But welldone! Looks good
Great combo, this is how I cook when I crave something different sha
you people have indeed run out of ideas. pssshhcheeeeeww. !
Great combo, this is how I cook when I crave something different sha
This One no be emergency stew naaaa!!!! eh aunty eya. you are making my tummy rumble 🙁
@anon 2:49 which kain yeye food be this na
This one na correct purge abeg
most of the times, food that we arent prepared to cook because of incomplete ingredients turns out tastier.for interesting stories visit Suspense and Emotions
U didn't name it emergency stew. I've always known it as that since I started cooking. We call it emergency stew in my family too.
Besides d real emergency stew doesn't have all these plenty things. It is usually tin tomatoes, fish (maybe Bonga or smoked fish) or egg, oil, knorr etc. That is, substitutes kinda.
Wao, this is rich and yummy emergency stew. I like
Yummy!!!luv it!!!
Have a deep feeling that this will taste nice, having a knowledge of just sardines stew and corned beef stew. Combo should be good athink. Good experiment! But won't do chicken and fish sha o. That na plenty long throat things…
@Ivy brown, its emergency because I don't cook normal stew with only canned foods. I am posting your plate now.
Thanks for begging me. The only flavour there is curry. Fish, chicken and corned beef are proteins.
Very sorry. Please concentrate and thanks for allowing yourself get distracted. I like that.
Thank you Mamie, Emrgency cause I cooked with canned and couldn't go get fresh items. Thanks for complementing my new pot.
Thank you Bislondy, I cook normal stew with some fresh not all canned. Enjoy your thick stew.
Sorry Ella, you can try it with smoked fish and or mackerel in tomato sauce. Sorry for offending you with corned beef and sardines.
I'm very sorry about making you hungry. Please stop crying.
I appreciate this comment from you Cleo. Thank you.
@Anon, I can't see any bad cook on this blog. Where are they? Please point a finger and I'll understand. No matter how dry my stew is, there will still be some oil because it is fried with oil.
Next time maybe I try and see if stew alone can appear on a plate without any oil showing. That's my next project. Water cannot show except if you fried the stew with water. Thank you.
Hi Nekky, thanks for passing cos the stew small well well. E no go do everybody.
Thank you sis.
@ Ivy my thoughts exactly. Emergency stew" I was expecting fewer ingredients but this stew contains more than what is used for a complete stew.
Thank you dear. I actually cooked "outside the box" for a change.
Hugs!!!
Sorry about this no idea recipe.
More hugs!!!
@Dobby if it's normal you'd have seen blended tomatoes, pepper, tatashe and even live chicken sef. Emergency tummy rumbling? Sorry sis.
But this one has canned foods and old frozen chicken.
Yes Vivian, you are right. This turned out very very tasty.
I'm sorry for stealing the name from you sis. OK, I call mine Emergency stew part2.
I'm still very sorry Ms FT.
My fake one couldn't lay hands on bonga and smoked fish. The mallam did not deliver. Thanks for the correction anyway.
Noted.
I will try the bonga emergency stew next time. Thank you sis.
Thank you Hopie.
I luv your meals too.
Thank you for the like.
Please accept my warm hug.
Thank you Jay. Maybe it was a bit too much but it tasted very nice. I will try and reduce to just two proteins next time.
Have a lovely evening.
Hmm sardine + corned beef? ok o..it looks nice but no be emergency na. If u have to boil chicken den emergency don commot for the equation. Weldone
No, I didn't boil any chicken. The frozen chicken was already fried and kept in the freezer so, it got frozen again. I had to bring it out and just add to the stew.
Thank you.
Corned beef and sardines? Two canned foods in one pot? Aunty Eya, abeg reduce your canned foods consumption oh.
Emergency or no emergency food, your health is paramount!
Thank you.
Eya, dis ur concoction e get as e be woh! How can u add fish, chicken n corn beef all in d same pot? I beg which catering sch u attend, abi na ur gran mama recipe???
Take less of canned foods for your health o…
Thank you Aunty Eya, I came back home too tired to think of long cooking. I have all these ingredients at home and when I finished, my kids won't stop eating. Hubby asked that I reserve some stew for his bread in the morning. Thanks.
Osheoooo
Me too. I tried it this evening and it came out really really nice.
Keep up the good work Aunty. Ignore haters who try to drag you down to their level.
I love your recipes big time.
This is exactly what we had on Sunday. It tasted wonderful. I like like like.
Bad belle losers. I don't know why Eya is not deleting today. Some of these comments do not qualify to stand on this honourable WC
Eya wassup with the sarcastic replies? Every1 musnt like ur food. Me I cook my stew with chicken, titus, kpomo, stockfish, kpanla and dryfish at once. Its orishirishi. So I c nothn surprising abt this one.
This is the best stew. My kind of stew cos I love orishi rishi stews anytime.
this really looks nice Aunty Eya plus I noticed the picture quality as well good job ma'am..

I tire 4 dem ooooo.May be they use methylated spirit when cooking.
emergency stew i no is made of tin-tomatoes mixed wt fried grounded crayfish & onions in little oil.
boiled egg/dried fish substitute beef or chicken.
Very true!
I feel the combo is too much for emergency stew. I cook emergency stew a lot.U don't need the chicken and corned beef (corned beef has too much cholesterol). Smoked fish, tin tomato (diluted in water), chopped onion, grounded dry pepper, salt, Maggi, curry, thyme(if u like) and oil.
Fry the onion, put in your spice and pepper, add salt to taste, pour in the tomato mixture and put in the smoked fish last. Cover for about 3 mins and it's ready!
Chicken no be emergency.
