My Gynaecologist just retired and i am sad. 😭
When i went to Kaiser’s network of doctors online in search of a gynaecologist, i saw his picture and my spirit accepted him instantly. I do like older doctors.
I trusted my instincts and chose him as my doctor and i am glad i did.
I wish every doctor could be like him.
He is thorough and never leaves any stone unturned.
He knows how to bring hope on dark and and dreary days when test results are not so encouraging.
I recall when the results of the glucose test i did showed that i had gestational diabetes. Well, borderline.
My doctor took no chances.
Borderline or not, he declared me diabetic 😭
Off to the Diabetes class he sent me. There I learnt how to test my blood sugar after meals. I was put on a food plan just to check if the stupid diabetes could be managed and controlled through diet alone.
It was so difficult because pregnancy made me crave for meals not good for my condition 😭
I called him and told him i wanted to be placed on meds so i could eat whatever i wanted.
The Baba refused!
He said No.
I got upset.
Why?
Izit ya diabetes?
Izit ya body?
He said he would not place me on Metformin or Insulin like some of the ladies i knew since i could control the blood sugar with diet.
He spoke all the medical jargon and when i calmed down, it hit me that this man actually wanted the best for me.
He made sure i did all my tests from NIPS to Amniocentesis to those i felt were unnecessary. I got tired of all the needles poking me & all the blood work.
But i am thankful i listened & cooperated with him. Even with the diet, my baby was almost 9 pounds!
He followed up & even prayed with me on some days at my request.
Chai.
A praying doctor.
I will miss him & i pray the new doctor he has handed me over to, who i am yet to meet can fit into his shoes.
I wish him a beautiful retirement & i bless him.
God bless him & all the doctors who are caring & passionate about their profession 🙏
