How to use Hand sanitizer as mosquito repellent

I need to share how to use hand sanitizer as a mosquito repellent.  Have been using hand sanitizer to prevent mosquito bites since this Abuja lockdown began, and it worked everytime.

I never knew that hands sanitizers can act as a resistant to blood hungry rainy season mosquitoes. The Coronavirus lockdown made me try  and it works.

Everyone is staying indoors to stay safe.  As soon as the rains came in this April, I started suspecting these insect bites when I heard a few mosquito buzzes in my ears.

So, last week I tried rubbing some hand sanitizer on my feet after a mosquito won’t let my feet rest under the work table at night.  As soon as I rubbed the sanitizer on my hands and lightly rubbed those hands on my feet, there was peace until midnight when my work was done and I went to bed.

Well, in the room with my baby, I see him move and scratch his exposed legs. It’s hot and he went to bed with light sleep wear.  When he won’t sleep peacefully without rubbing his legs, I touched a little hand sanitizer there.  No where to shop insecticides right now.

How handsanitizers stopped mosquitoes biting my baby

I noticed that as soon as this was put on his leg, he slept off.  I laid on the bed and immediately there was a mosquito buzz. Before I say Jack my leg shook from one bite.  Had to put a little on my leg and that was the end of of any mosquito singing around the bedroom.

After that, I  have quietly continued to use my hand sanitizer mildly on my legs and arms to repel mosquitoes and it has worked every time.

This morning I decided to Google to see if alcohol based handsanitizers can be used to prevent mosquito bites and found it works.  Here is what I saw at Buzz off

“After being bit by a mosquito, it’s only a matter of time before the itching and swelling begin.  There is a variety of anti-itch creams and lotions that are available, but did you know that hand sanitizer will actually help relieve itching?  Since most hand sanitizers, including Purell Instant Hand Sanitizer, are alcohol based, they work to prevent infection while also alleviating the itch.  Just pour a little on and let it sit.  It does not get any easier than that!

If mosquitoes are disturbing and you are on lockdown without insecticide, try using your hands sanitizer to repel those and if there is any itch after mosquito bites, rub a little there and see how it works almost instantly.

Please note that alcohol based products can dry up the skin and use your hand sanitizer sparingly on arms and legs if you have to apply on skin.

Have you tried using hands sanitizer as a mosquito repellent? Did it work for you? Please don’t hesitate to share with us.

When you sit outdoors at night, if there are bites, use sanitizers sparingly on your exposed  arms and legs. The effect is immediate.  These insects clear off as soon as you apply to the skin.

Let’s all try our best to stay home so that the Abuja and Lagos lockdown can end soon.
