How to bake biscuits at home
I need to learn how to bake from my girls. Only two of the four enjoy cooking. One likes to beg others to cook for her when she’s hungry, the other would rather eat cereals for lunch than cook for herself. This 8 year old is one of those kitchen loving 2. She asked for biscuits, I directed her to crackers.
Said she wanted Danish cookies and I
told her to either take my crackers or bake her cookies herself. Next thing she picked up her cookbook and entered the kitchen.
In less than 20 minutes I was called to come turn on the oven and before I said JACK, these delicious cookies were staring at me. Even me, now I know how to bake biscuits courtesy of my baby.
INGREDIENTS for baking biscuits:
- 125 grams of butter
- half cup granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 11/2 cups self raising flour
- 1/4 cup custard powder
Ingredients for biscuits FILLING:
- 75 grams butter
- 2/3 cup icing sugar
- 2 teaspoons milk
- 1/3 cup strawberry jam.
SIMPLE BISCUIT BAKING PROCEDURE:
- She preheated the oven for 5 minutes, lined 2 baking trays with baking paper, with electric beaters, she beat the butter and sugar until light and creamy, added the milk and continued to beat until combined. Sifted the flour and custard powder together and added to the mix. She rolled 2 teaspoons of the mixture into balls, placed on the tray and pressed with a fork and just continued that way. The fork was occasionally dipped in custard powder to prevent sticking on the fork.
TO MAKE THE BISCUIT FILLING:
- She beat the butter and sugar with electric beaters until light and creamy, then beat in the milk. Spread one biscuit with about half a teaspoon of the jam and one with half a teaspoon of the filling, and sandwiched them together.
She promised to bake more if I post her biscuits on wives connection blog, lol.
Please help me encourage her, share… so she’ll bake some more.
Hope you too have learnt how to bake biscuits.

She deserves encouragement. Eya pls buy her some icecream for this. I couldn't even mix dough at that age.
Your 8 year old knows her onions! She'll be an excellent cook when she grows up. Well done, hun.
Well done baby!
Awwwww…thumbs up dear! You're definitely going to make your parents so proud of you. You are so good!
Please aunty Eya, you didn't post the step by step process.
Good job girl! Wow EYA please when is the appropriate age for one to start training a girl child in the kitchen? I have a 3year old girl and am thinking for tour daughter to know how to bake this much at her age then she must have been introduced at an early age.
Well done princess, you are such an inspiration to all mother's
For where? Which introduce early. At five, they can start assisting but not with hot objects or hot liquids o. When you cook, let her just be around and watch, she'll quietly learn even the ones you never taught her. I can't even bake like my girls. She'll learn by observing you.
She didn't take step by step pics, I'll just copy out her recipe now.
Very good job. Kudos to her.
