Homemade dog food for puppy

Dog Food for puppy
How I make dog food at home for my puppy

Today I will show us my homemade dog food for my puppy. How I cook at home for my new puppy.

I recently got a puppy( A German Shepherd and have been so happy about playing, feeding, and generally taking care of this female puppy.

Loving the cute little dog already. Dog Food is so easy to make compared to how long it takes me to cook for the family.

With dog food, all you do is open a can of puppy food and feed the animal or just research a bit on foods dogs can or cannot eat, research the nutritional value of the ingredients and you are good to go.

From my time with this little puppy, I have learned some things I would love to be sharing here on the blog.

For this delicious plate of noodles my puppy so enjoyed while wagging her tail, I used the following ingredients:

INGREDIENTS FOR MY PUPPY’S HOMEMADE FOOD

3 cups Clean Water

2 tablespoons Milk

2 large Eggs

1 small carrot

A pack of noodles plus seasoning ( Noodles only come in later when I serve the meal as lunch and dinner. For breakfast its just bread and the other ingredients. The dog food remnant later gets the noodles added while warming).

4 slices of bread

A pinch of salt. Just a pinch to balance out the taste.

Should dogs be fed salted food? No, dogs should not eat salted food. Too much salt can be unhealthy for dogs and lead to dehydration and electrolyte imbalances.

2 teaspoons of sugar. Should you feed dogs sugar? No, it is not recommended to feed dogs sugar. Too much sugar can lead to obesity and other health problems in dogs.

The emphasis is on TOO MUCH. I add just a little to the large quantity of homemade dog food. The dog has taste buds too and won’t enjoy bland perhaps.

METHODS OF PREPARATION FOR MY HOMEMADE PUPPY FOOD

  1. Get the ingredients ready by washing and cleaning the carrots before shredding them with a grader.
  2. Add the water to a pot, place it on the burner, and bring it to a boil.
  3. Crack and Add the eggs, stir briefly before adding the Milk.
  4. Let the pot simmer on low heat for half a minute.
  5. Add the bread already broken into tiny pieces and stir. Add the remaining ingredients now.
  6. Cover and let the pot simmer for about 30 seconds.
  7. Turn off the heat, and leave the pot open to cool down the cooked dog food before serving.
  8. This quantity gives my puppy two servings.

Note that the dog cannot eat all these at once and because I won’t have the time to cook lunch, this dog meal is served for breakfast and lunch while dinner will be some dog food saved in the freezer and we are done for the day.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU FEED A PUPPY?

This depends on the age of the dog. Puppies should be fed three to four times a day, while adult dogs should be fed two times a day.

Puppies should typically be served breakfast between 7 and 8 a.m. That’s when my puppy takes her first meal of the day.

Puppies should eat lunch and dinner around 12 pm and 6 pm.

It is generally not recommended to feed puppies late at night. Puppies should be fed a consistent amount of food at the same time each day. Feeding them late at night may disrupt their sleeping patterns and make it harder for them to adjust to a regular feeding schedule.

WHEN TO TRANSFORM FROM PUPPY FOOD TO ADULT DOG FOOD

Most puppies reach adulthood between the ages of one and two years, depending on the breed. At this age, puppies can transition to an adult diet. We still have some months to go with my one month on little puppy.

11 more months before we can transform into adult dog feeding.

10 TIPS FOR PUPPY FEEDING

  1. Feed your puppy the right amount of food. Puppies need more food per pound of body weight than adult dogs.
  2. Always provide fresh, clean water.
  3. Feed your puppy at the same time each day to help establish a routine.
  4. Divide the daily food ration into two or three meals.
  5. Choose a high-quality puppy food that meets your puppy’s nutritional needs.
  6. Avoid feeding your puppy table scraps or human food.
  7. Monitor your puppy’s weight and adjust the amount of food accordingly.
  8. Avoid overfeeding by providing treats in moderation.
  9. Don’t leave food out all day; take up any food that hasn’t been eaten after 15 minutes.
  10. Consult your veterinarian for advice on the best diet for your puppy.

Here is a list of food we should not feed our puppies

  1. Chocolate
  2. Grapes and raisins
  3. Onions and garlic
  4. Caffeine

HERE IS A LIST OF FOODS THAT DOGS LOVE TO EAT

Dogs love to eat the foods below.

Although some people give raw eggs mixed with milk to their dogs, I wouldn’t do that for fear of Salmonella infection. I cook eggs before feeding this little puppy of mine and won’t advise anyone to feed digs raw eggs for fear of salmonella. It’s better to be safe when it comes to raising them.

HOMEMADE VERSUS STORE-BOUGHT FOOD, WHICH DO YOU PREFER FOR DOGS?

The answer to this question depends on a variety of factors, including the specific needs of your dog and the ingredients used in the food.

Generally speaking, a homemade diet can be more beneficial for dogs as it can be tailored to their individual needs and can provide fresh, whole ingredients.

Store-bought food may contain preservatives, fillers, and other additives, which can be unhealthy for dogs.

Ultimately, it is up to the pet owner to decide which type of food is best for their dog. Both store-bought and homemade dog food can be great depending on what one wants for their dogs.

SHOULD DOGS BE FED WARM OR COLD FOOD?

Is warm or cold good for dogs?

It is best to serve dogs food that is at room temperature. Cold food can cause digestive issues, and warm food can be too hot and burn their mouths.
