Good Evening Aunty Eya, I have really come to appreciate your blog, God bless u and d entire WC family. I have a little problem and I will like the readers to help.
My family and I are planning a vacation in Ghana and we have
never been there.
Please I need to know from people who have been there interesting places that a family could go for sight seeing.
Also, any good hotel that a middle class can afford. Please note, I have gone to Google but can’t really come to terms with what I saw. Thanks so much.

Aunty Eya now, please post my mail. Since yesterday, why now Aunty Eya?
I hear Ghana is hotter than Nigeria. Dunno sha.
Stay at Accra the capital and visit the Kuramo beach.
Why didn't you go to south Africa instead??
Sure it is.
Cape Coast is about 4hrs drive from Accra. You can get vehicles to take her to Cake Coast. There, there are a lot of beautiful beach resorts. Just go to cape coast. Its all about tourism
Of all places, Ghana? Y not just go 2 Calabar or better still, south Africa or Morrocco?
Why not just stay in Naija… Ghana is like from frying pan to fire!
It's just like travelling from Lesotho to Swaziland… All the best anyway!
Ok I'm a Ghanaian and I can help a bit. Where do you plan to stay, Accra, Kumasi or where? That would help me a lot
Anyway if you plan to stay in Accra I can recommend a very good hotel(very nice plus affordable)
It's called The Swan Lake hotel. You can google them and call them for reservation. (I think they charge about 90 cedis per night.
For the touririst places, you can visit Labadi beach, drive to Cape coast(2 hrs from Accra) to visit all those historical castles( Obama went to one of them when he visited Ghana) I would recommend the Elmina Castle. Also at Cape coast you can visit the Kakum National Park which has the tallest canopy walk in the world. It's such a fun and memorable experience.
Ok back to Accra, you can go to the Arts Centre, Kwame Nkrumaj museum, independence square etc. they are all located with close proximity and you can walk to these places.
I can give you more ideas if I know the city you are staying in, and also the kind of things that interest you.
Awaiting you response
-Proud Ghanaian
Don't be ignorant have you ever been to Ghana?
Errrrmmm there is a big difference. Constant electricity, no book haram, you feel safe anytime of the day, people are more friendly, no police harassing you unnesecesarily etc. I can see you have never travelled before
If visiting Accra, please note that it is much cheaper to book for your hotel reservation at the Airport reservation desk. You will save alot doing this. It is much cheaper than booking directly with the hotel as the agents have discount rate with the hotels. The reservation desk is immediately after stepping out of the Arrival hall.
Apart from visiting nice places, please note that items are slightly more expensive @ Accra compared with Lagos…
Instead of going to Ghana why not go to either dubai or Kenya if you can afford it ooo. Its a very good place for vacation nd the costs are moderate. I'm sure ur family will enjoy either of these two countries more dan Ghana
Dubai visa is easy to get nd not so expensive nd kenya is visa free for nigerians. U ll be given d visa at d point of entry with a fee of about $25.
@Johnson the hotels you are talking about are expensive hotels o. The ones that have agents at the airport are expensive hotels that charge in dollars. I think the poster wants a reasonable price hotel
I'm sure they considered all that. Maybe you can help with the plane fare to Kenya cos I'm sure it will be more expensive.
Why are ppl so against Ghana? It's a beautiful country.

Ace. Lesotho to Swaziland is a whole lot better than Nigeria to Ghana. If u go by road, it is nice & smooth with lovely views, if u fly, it's also a fantastic bird eye view. Sooo, u another comparison.

Ghana is a very nice place, u can visit akosombo dam, elmina castle, labadi beach, makola market and lot of nice places there…food is cheaper in Ghana than Nigeria. I don't know about other things.or about the country being hot,I think it depends on where exactly u visit, just like northen nigera is hotter than the other parts of the country.I spent two weeks there and I don't wanna come bk to naija.the people there are also very accomodating just like a nigerian will be accomodating and nice to strangers more than there fellow country men*wink*
We stayed in golden tullip! Fabulous hotel but quite expensive…..buffet for breakfast is amazeballllll! U cn also try Bojo beach in my opinion its better than labadi beach.its bout 40mins frm accra! Njoy ur stay..Ghana is a nice place
@Anon8:44pm, you pay in cedis at the Airport (not dollars). The agents have all range (& class). I hope by reasonable price hotel, you're not talking about hotels wey dem do small time? Security should be a consideration – don't unduly expose yourself.
One thing is sure – hotels in Nigeria (big cities) are way too expensive (in most cases) compared to Accra or anyway in the world…
@Poster – very important to get your "Yellow Card" handy…Imagine! You would need this vaccination card before you are allowed entry…
i am Nigerian and quite enjoyed my stay @ Ghana. i stayed @ kingdom hostel(i think) @ east legon side, very neat and comfy place @ 50 dollars per night.
i went to Kwame Nkruma museum, mokola market, the arts market in accra,a tour of accra city,a tour of east legon, even university of legon<had a hearty meal @ chicken inn on the way there, visited labadi beach hotel.spent a night@ elmina hotel, cape coast i think, visited the beach, and the ancient war museum there.anothe night @ akosombo and took the boat cruise.
you can also go to kakum national park, the canopy walk way is like 50 storeys from the floor, quite an experience. lots of food to sample too.
Go to ghana, sure you wont want to come back to naija.
Please don't listen to people saying why Ghana. Go wherever you want to go for holidays. If this year you go to Ghana, next year you can decide to go somewhere else. I lived in Ghana for four years and it was a great experience. Since you have decided you want to visit Ghana, a place you should visit is Cape Coast. make sure you go to Kankun (I hope that's the spelling) national park. They have a lot of tourist places in Cape Coast. Accra too is nice and Takoradi. You can visit the beaches there. And while there, just enjoy yourself and their food…
Yes o. I heard this is important but make sure you don't get the fake one. You may not know its fake but they'll know in Ghana and you'll pay heavily. I think when you get it from the airport you will get fake ones. You'll have to go to a clinic I think and will have to take the vaccines if not they'll do it for you in Ghana and you'll still pay fine
I have always known there's an ignoramus bone in u and u just proved it!
How's Ghana like jumping from frying pan to fire?u sit in ur one bedroom apartment and assume u know the whole world!just zip it if u don't have any iota of what u ranting about!MrIknoweverythingandeveryone!
Poster:Ghana is really really nice!u would enjoy urself immensely, just be open minded and trust me u would always wanna go back.Security is top notch unlike Nigeria, pple r extremely friendly and there r numerous family friendly place to go.Don't mind all those oversabi pple asking u to go to Dubai,Kenya etc,as if they would help u wit the plane ticket and spending money!*rme*
@Joy: look @ u saying what u have no idea about!are u going to help them with the expenses?too known!
Um POSTER I forgot to say u can go to Axim Beach hotel, lou moon and Ankobra beach.
U must also visit Kakum national park &Paga crocodile& Mole park.
There's also Boti Falls,Wli falls &Afadjato.U know Ghana abounds in tourism and very peaceful!ur politicians have houses dotted all over the place and it their vacation spot as well.
Just be vigilant like how u would be if u traveling to any foreign country.Around this time the weather is amazing and try all the foods like fufu &green soup, kenkey+hot pepper, banku &okro stew and yes waakye(make sure u eat from the leaves @ a joint in Adabraka and the jollof taste 10x better than the one prepared in Nigeria.
Enjoy ur vacation and come back with feeback oo.
there are nicer and affordable hotels in GH, we have the mahogany lodge at cantonment, the crown apartmento hotel and airport view amongst others. these are beautiful and yet affordable hotels. Google the names for details.
