Small kitchen cabinets are common in most major cities where sometimes even Mansions have kitchen space that’s too small for the beautiful luxury kitchens that you expect to see.
If you feel your kitchen cabinets are too small for the size of the kitchen or apartment, there are a few tips and tricks to help you arrange well maximising space ands enjoying the kitchen cabinets available to you.
1. Maximise your under the kitchen sink space. Fix whatever needs to be fixed.
Get a good plumber to permanently dry up under the kitchen sink so that the bucket under there is replaced with something more useful like a bag (waterproof just in case) that can keep some handy small kitchen items safe without occupying outside space.
2. Instead of keeping the waste bag under the sink, take it outside and get cellophane bags, the size traders use to wrap food stuff or items for their buyers, get those bags and use as disposable waste bags for daily removal.
A bag can be used per meal prep time and once that job is done, the bag is taken outside whether full or not and dumped in the heavy duty waste bag kep for that purpose. That way, no kitchen space is used for waste and every space is properly used.
3. Create cabinets above the original cabinets, using the space close to the roof.
4. Hang knives on the wall using magnetic strips instead of placing on the counter or drawers, let that space be used for other kitchen items.
4. Use the space on the cabinet doors, hang flat items like pot lids on there, because they are flat, the doors will still be able to close shut.
5. Hang cooking pots and pans above the kitchen cabinets instead of drawers. That way foodstuff and heavy containers can be kept inside the cabinets.
Also use the space under the cabinets if they are high above the ground. Simple small drawers can be installed and used to store simple DIY tools for fixing stuff in the kitchen and around the house.
Sometimes even the small cabinets can still be partitioned. Use partitioning to divide the small space to how you want and make good use of every space without letting your kitchen look crowded with items sitting all over the place.
