Did My Doctor Rape Me? What Should I Do?

Good evening Aunty Eya and other wives connection bloggers. My name is ……………. And my number is …………., *(Aunty Eya pls blur my details before posting). My husband and I have been TTC for three years now to no avail. Finally, we registered with a hospital in April and I’m supposed to have appointments with the Doctor once every month for now.

We’ve had three appointments already in April, May  and June. This July is ending and I haven’t had the courage to return because of my experiences and
fears. Each time we go into the theatre for checks and examinations, I don’t know what happens next, he kind of makes me sleep off to prevent my painful screams cos honestly I can’t stand ANYONE putting a hand in my body for anything whatsoever.

Each time, after everything and I get home, my VJay feels so sore. I feel like someone just slept with me. For all those three visits, it’s the same feeling and I am worried.

Please Aunty Eya post this on the blog I need advice on what to do next. Should I fix a camera on my body at the next visit or just relax and trust my Doctor?

  1. It is possible that the soreness you feel is as a result of internal examination in your vagina. Sometimes the speculum used can make you feel sore. I've had a very similar experience. Do you see any sign of discharge or semen on your underwear? Tbh, my concern is that he knocks you out. Medically that should only be done when you are having an actual procedure not an examination.

Internal examinations are painful but bearable your best bet is to just opt to stay conscious and be sure. If you feel too uncomfortable with him, change your doctor/hospital. If you really want to have the benefit out doubt you can put your phone on record when next you visit. You will at least be able to hear what is going on.

  2. =O. I'd say ask for another doctor to be in the room during examinations or switch doctors. Also a second opinion is always okay, ask if it's normal for you to be put to sleep for the type of procedures you go under.

PS | I just posted a new post where I shared my most embarrassing moments! I'm tagging you! Perhaps you'd want to do a post and tag some other people or want to leave a comment on my post! Can't wait to read it!

  3. Dear poster in this day and age, no one shd undergo a procedure in hospital without knowing the name of the actual procedure and what it entails!

U shd also not be put under without ur specific consent!

Thirdly and procedure that involves any form of exposure SHOULD only be carried in the presence of a chaperone (nurse, assistant etc), PLEASE!!! This is for ur protection and also for the doctor's protection from any allegations!

    Be adviced!

  5. Standard practice is for a nurse (female) to be present whenever a doctor(male) is examining a female patient. There has to be someone else present.
Request for a female nurse or ask your husband to follow you and be present during the examination. If you end up being sore, good. If not… Another matter.

  8. @ Poster what Virtuosity said is absolutely true there must always be a chaperone when you are been examined by a doctor. If you decide to change your hospital make sure that is adhered to and as much as possible go to doctors that are referred by friends/relations.

  9. We are TTC too and I had several doctor visits last year. In all my examinations with the RE, the nurse was always there. If that is not the case at your hospital, you can make a request. I'm quite sensitive to pain so on a couple of occasions that required deep speculum or catheter maneuvers, I had to be anesthetized. For such, the anesthesiologist is different, and then the doc and nurse, all three are there.

Do not be scared of male doctors, most are professional and would not jeopardize their careers with such deeds as rape. But if you're not at peace, change hospitals or request a female doctor at your current place.

    All the best.

  10. When a male doctor preforms that kinda procedure, a female nurse should always be present in the room for liability reason.

  11. are you going for a pap smear ? because nobody needs to go unconscious for that.. ask your doctor what it is which you should have known way before now and insist that hubby stays in the room.

  12. If you suspect anything fishy please change your hospital ASAP, or just to clear the air, your next appointment go with your hubby and insist you are induced as usual. After the checkup take notice of tiny details i.e if the pains and sore reoccurs then it probably your body tenderness. I plead the doctor is not guilty yet.
Have a safe PP and delivery.

  16. Some Naija wifeys are too naive when it comes to TTC matters. Apart from HSG or biopsy, I dont know of any other kind of examination that should warrant Anaes. I TTC for 2yrs and did all sorts of examination without any Anaes. The only unbearable one is the HSG and unfortunately, those our wickend radiographers will never giv anaes. If you must continue with the doctor, pls insist for the presence of a nurse or place a phone recorder to be sure of whats happening in case its a 'one man' clinic. If I am the one, I will definitely know when a man has slept with me even under unconscious state. One must feel 'somehow'.

  17. Such examinations are done using an scan and if he needs to do any internal examination then he shouldn't be alone. Take your husband, mum, sister or friend with you and ensure whoever it is stays in the room all through the so called examination.
Infact no such test is done on a monthly basis or I suspect something fishy.

  18. I have been ttc for almost six years now. I have done tests both here and in the US and have done several surgeries too and have never witnessed the scenario you are painting so I advice you to wise up and either set a trap for that doctor and find out what he is up to or if you don't want any drama, leave.
There are many terrible things happening out there, many terrible and demonic men posing as medical personnel, they go as far as raping women, making them bloated, drugging them, giving them other people's children as their own etc. I have a family member who was told by her so called doctor that she was pregant since last year and she does not look or feel pregnant.
Under no cricumstance should you not know what is happening to you when it is not a surgery.
Lord, have mercy, we can be so desperate when we are looking for children that we are ready to bear what is obviously wrong and may be dangerous on the long run! Please, wise up.

  19. 1.if he indeed slept with you, he wont be stupid enough to leave his sperm for u to notice, so checking ur panties for sperm no go work , condom tinz.
    2. if you take ur hubby or friend or ask for a nurse, and dnt feel sore afterwards,he might say he did a different kind of examination that wont leave you so sore as the previous ones.
    3. if you change your hospital, you may never know for sure what exactly transpired in this hospital, u will keep wandering about it.
    What to do?
u got the answer woman, place a camara subtly just so know what exactly has been happening to you. cos i have never heard of a once a month repeated physical examination of the same kind! when will he tell u of his findings? be smart and record this months check up. then u will truly know.

  20. In this day and age and in this country, you cannot afford to be shy or timid when you go to a doctor.

Ask questions. Insist on clear answers. Google is your very best friend. If you know the name of the procedure, google it and find out how it should go. Ask another doctor.

Tell your doctor what you experience and ASK him why you feel that way. Let him explain (understandingly) exactly what he does to you, watch his reaction carefully.

Insist on a nurse to be present or better still your husband (you can find out if its allowed by asking another doctor or even google-ing it).

Please don't play with your health. Be bold! Ask questions!
