Adding good palm oil to a pot of soup |
Kitchen Tips For Treatment Of Bad Palm Oil. Bad palm oil can change the taste of any kind of dish. No matter the ingredients used in cooking, once bad palm oil goes into a pot of soup. That soup is gone.
Bought a gallon of palm oil yesterday, when I got home and opened, it tasted very bad. I sent it back, it was changed but the second gallon still smelled and tasted bad. Got tired of sending back and tried my old trick and like magic it worked perfectly.
Palm oil on its own doesn’t go bad just like that. What causes the bad smell and taste is
water in the oil.
Kitchen Tips For Treatment Of Bad Palm Oil:
When palm oil is being processed, the final stage is supposed to be the heating of the extracted palm oil, that way any water residue is dried up but sometimes the farmers are too in a hurry to go through this final stage or they just forget to do it and then sell out this oil.
In the case of any tiny drop of water in that oil, it starts to smell in a matter of weeks and can give a very bad taste to food.
What I do is empty the not so good tasting oil in a big pot and boil. This boiling helps any drop of water in the oil to dry up and that ends the smell and bad taste. Boiling time depends on the quantity of oil.
Please, do not boil for too long as that may just bleach your palm oil. Stick around the kitchen and once oil starts boiling, wait for say five minutes if oil is much and then turn off the heat and allow to cool.
In case you have been throwing away your gallons and Jerricans of palm oil cos of bad taste, please stop.
Just boil the oil, let any water in there dry up and you will be surprised at the fresh taste of your palm oil. #ThankMyKitchenTrialAndErrorSkills
