Help! I Have Weight loss Issues

Aunty Eya, I love ur blog and the way your readers give advice on issues.
I’m 18 years old and ever since

I was little, I’ve always been chubby.
Since I entered the university, my weight has yo-yo’d cos I’ve been trying different diets and I don’t really get time for exercise because my school schedule is tight. I’m currently about 60 kg.
Recently though, I drastically reduced the number of calories I eat per day, on a range of 500-1000kcal per day since january but there has been no significant weight loss, this doesn’t make sense to me at all, I tried googling it but no sensible result came forth, I know there are some health/fitness aware people on your blog, I need this explained, thanks.

  1. Read Dr Atkins new diet revolution 2002, it will give you insight on why you are not losing weight by counting calories. Eating less carbohydrates is the answer…

  4. To lose weight.

    1. Reduce carbs drastically.

    2. Exercise more. Jogging at a spot, jump rope, yoga, squats, dancing, swimming, mild weight lifting, walk almost everywhere you go except the sun is too much or distance too far. In the morning, exercise within 30 mins of waking up, eat breakfast within an hour.

    3. Reduce your salt, sugar and caffeine intake. Cut all baked food and fizzy drinks from ur diet.

    4. Drink plenty water…,it's weird but it actually reduces water retention.

    5. Eat fruits only at breakfast. Opt for veggies during the rest of the day.

    6. Eat a big breakfast, medium lunch, light or no dinner. Or eat 6 meals a day. 3 normal square meals, 3 snacks. Eat them every 3 hours alternating between breakfast, snack, lunch, snack..and so on. Snack on healthy food like nuts, raisins, carrots, popcorn (a small bowl full, without salt, oil, butter or sugar, just air popped), cabbage and low fat yogurt.

    7. Take at least a cup of green tea everyday. It actually helps increase ur metabolism rate and it contains antioxidants.

    8. Change up ur exercise routine and meal plan once in a while. It helps reduce the dreaded weight loss plateau where nothing seems to work anymore. It also confuses ur body and forces it to lose more weight.

    9. Sleep. Sleep at least 6 hours at night and take naps during the day even if it's just for 30 mins.

What again? Dats all I can remember for now. Ehen….go to ur doctor and do and all round medical check up. Cholesterol level, BP and so on.

Avoid stress as much as possible. Relax. For me stress makes me add more weight. In school then, during exam, I wud add more weight even with all the reading and cramming…

That's all for now. Also check weight loss sites and join online forums. You'll learn more and be motivated.

  6. i will suggest u to also visit ur doctor to see if ur thyoid gland is okey, cos most atimes loosing weigt may not take place if d gland is bad. Try talking to ur doc he may also suggest other test dt's not making u loose weight. No matter what weight loss u try, if d gland is not functioning well, u may not loose weight.

  7. I'm 19 and have had this same issue. I researched it on the internet and found that if you reduce your calorie intake, your body will hold on to any little food you do take because it thinks there's a famine going on in your body. So because of this you may even add weight as a result. You have to work with your body, not against it. Eat about 6 small snack sized meals throughout the day and get at least 45 mins to an hour exercise 4 days in the week (3 days for resting the muscles) and you should begin to see results. Hope this helps.

  8. Forgot to add, the reason why you should eat that many times is because it will 'wake up' your metabolism and begin to work on what you've eaten and on your body fat. The exercise will also help to burn fat.

  9. Like one of the posters has rightly said, eating as much as 4-5 times boosts your metabolism (which according to research is responsible for burning up to 70% calories ˚≈onº a daily basis. Having a good and healthy eating habit is another good way to achieving your weight loss goal, this way, you are conscious of the food you eat. The aim is to eat healthy and nutritious foods.
